Project Description
The specific use-inspired challenges this Regional Innovation Engine will span the economic, environment, and social aspects of sustainable agriculture. As a regional partner, UW-Green Bay will complete a plan to contribute to the engine in the areas of sustainable land and resource management, improved waste management, and technologies for protection of water quality through inspired research and development, translation of technology, and workforce development. Specifically, UW-Green Bay will plan for and complete the following activities:
Inspired Research and Development
• Leverage existing regional partners (e.g. Wisconsin Green Fire, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance) to develop a land and water conservation focus group including farmers, practitioners, research scientists, and government officials to discuss and determine challenges and solutions for the agricultural water nexus of Wisconsin. Focus group will meet quarterly to identify regional water challenges.
• Complete a state-wide survey of stakeholders to prioritize water focused sustainable agriculture research, translation of technology, and workforce development.
